Our Client has grown to a large optical retailer by numerous acquisitions in more than 40 countries and over 7000 stores. All entities were running their business on local software platforms. To support further growth and insight in the business processes, a program has started to transform the business from a typical POS retail environment into an omni-channel environment driven by business-supporting tools and directive operational software. The new operational platform template was however not plug-and-play for the localisation due to various reasons, including missing functionality for local production, existing carrier and vendor agreements and EDI communication standards.
Moreover, some of the existing 3rd party software used in the warehouse was a vast contributor to the personnel policy of utilising temporary workers in high-productive areas.
The EWM installed solution consists of bulk picking and Recipient driven Flow-through and Cross-docking supplying stores from collective POs generated from the Push Replenishment system and is fully integrated with production in SAP or local production software where required. The typical warehouse operations were optimised to pick via RF for a number of stores with pick carts and with a pick-to-light and put-to-light system serving optimal picking bundles for high productivity.
During this productive task, the Price label service for the stores gets attached to the article. Integration with carrier specific software optimises the shipping process to the stores.
