Rocket Space Campus
The Rocket Space Campus programme is collaboration with universities to provide real-world experience to undergraduates as part of their course. This also helps Rocket develop potential future Rocketeers and capability in new technologies. As part of the Space Campus initiative Rocket provides guidance and mentoring to final year students as well as setting a group projects for the application of new technologies to meet pre-defined requirements in a proof-of-concept solution development.
In Partnership with Cumbria University
In 2010 Rocket embarked on a Space Campus partnership with Cumbria University. The university runs a BSc honours course in Applied Computing and for part of this final year for the students requires them to undertake a group project, this year being set by Rocket.
There are 8 students in the final year of the course and these have been put into one large project team allowing each member a 3 week slot at project management as well as other roles within the team. The students have been given 2 requirements from Rocket and will be delivering:
- Three dimensional warehouse modelling using Java and openGL, this will enable the user to easily visualise and navigate through the warehouse integrated using SAP business connector (XML).
- Using Rich Internet Application (RIA) to provide a warehouse resource task activity report using Adobe Flex integrated on SAP web dynpro flash island technology.
