Direct Store Delivery (DSD)
Direct Store Delivery (DSD) is SAP's process for selling and distributing goods directly to customers' point of sales (Kiosks, Stores, Offices, Bars and Vending machines) bypassing the customers' warehouses. Planning and managing customer delivery tours, with the drivers responsible for Presales, Sales, Delivery or Mixed deliveries to customers, is encompassed within the DSD processes and functions.
Direct store delivery process, including visit planning, visit control, tours and final settlement, can be implemented with the support of either paper based or mobile execution.

The efficiencies of mobilising DSD and removing the paperwork can be realised using xDSD, the mobile mini app, which makes use of SAP's occasionally connected mode of data synchronisation to support mobile business scenarios in Direct Stores Delivery. Using Mobile integration (MI) technology data is synchronized to the driver's in cab mobile device during the check-out process, giving and recording tour, stock and vehicle data that can be stored offline on the driver's mobile device. After the tour has been executed information can then be synchronized to the back end ERP system during the check-in process.
