Brady Corporation
- Brady Corporation is a U.S. based company with more than 43 satellite organisations worldwide including Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Australia and Latin America. The company makes and markets industrial identification products and safety solutions and is a leading supplier to the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) market and to the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) market.
- Having implemented SAP in 2002 and rolled out standard business processes, Brady Corporation faced the challenge of increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs at their UK distribution centre where they manage a very varied and changing product range of over 30,000 SKU's. To achieve this they engage Rocket to provide an SAP Voice Picking and Put-away solution as well as a number of SAP Warehouse Management Add-on (Rocket Packs) to help optimise their warehousing and logistics operation.
- The Rocket Packs implemented provided increased accuracy, efficiency and throughput in three key areas: put-away, picking and storage. The put-away process was optimised with a combination of trolley preparation functionality and Voice directed put-away tours for trolleys containing multiple SKUs to be stored in multiple destination bins. Voice directed picking into trolleys for multiple concurrent deliveries was introduced. All Voice functions are part of the Rocket SAP WM Voice Suite which was implemented in conjunction with topSPEECH Lydia™ for SAP by topsystems using their Voxter™ voice devices and Intermec's CK3 handheld multimodal RF devices. Storage was optimised with the Warehouse Management Stock Consolidation and Stock Re-organisation Rocket Packs.
- Since the successful completion of the project in July 2008, Brady Corporation has shown a significant improvement in productivity at its distribution hub warehouse centre. Throughput from receiving to put-away has reduced, more inventory items are processed in a working day and paperwork routines have been minimised. Voice directed operations have enabled 'hands free' working which has significantly improved stock accuracy and efficiency.
