Irish Distillers

  • Irish Distillers distils and distributes internationally a range of famous Irish whisky (including Jameson), gin and vodka brands; it also imports and distributes a comprehensive range of spirits and wines from other countries.
  • Irish Distillers, renowned for Jameson whisky, were driven to improve their main distribution centre for several key reasons - increasing sales volumes internationally, transfer of external storage capacity and improved efficiency, effectiveness together with customer service.
  • Project was preceded by a Feasibility Study to evaluate strategy and business implementation plan.
  • Results achieved through introduction of new business processes supported by SAP Logistics Execution software, including Transportation, Warehouse Management, Task & Resource Management and mobilisation of the workforce with Psion Teklogix RF devices directly integrated into SAP.
  • Customer specific packing requirements managed with SAP Value Added Service (VAS).
  • Project delivery was accelerated using Rocket’s library of predefined tools and enhancements.

Direct Wines / Laithwaites

  • Laithwaites (also known as Direct Wines, or The Sunday Times Wine Club) have been a wine reseller for nearly 40 years, and have a mission to bring 'real' wines of authenticity and character direct from the vineyard to your door. They pride themselves on their award-winning customer service and quick delivery whilst relishing the chance to showcase thousands of great wines.
  • Laithwaites, the market leader in wine home delivery, undertook the creation of a new 180,000 square feet distribution centre to meet the current and future needs of the growing business. This semi-automated facility, capable of handling over four million cases of wine per year, has a state-of-the-art SAP Warehouse Management system at it’s heart allowing operators of all activities to be directed by SAP-driven voice picking system or RF devices connect directly to SAP.
  • The warehouse included high levels of automation, including a Univeyor carton conveyor, pick-to-light, automatic labelling, and mechanised palletisation, all of which was integrated into the SAP warehouse management system, allowing central control and management of all processes.

  • This technically very complex project was achieved with the specialist help of Rocket who worked with Laithwaites from the initial design, through implementation, testing, go live and finally live support.
